What is Blockchain?

Blockchain is a decentralized electronic register that allows data and information to be stored in an immutable, secure, and transparent manner.

Italy was among the first countries in the world to recognize the legal validity of smart contracts with Legislative Decree No. 135/2018. Article 8-ter defines a smart contract as “a computer program that operates on technologies based on distributed ledgers and whose execution automatically binds two or more parties based on predefined effects determined by the parties themselves”.

The European Union, through Regulation (EU) No. 910/2014, recognizes the legal effects of electronic time-stamping under Article 41.

Today, thanks to blockchain technology, it is possible to:

  • validate data and information;
  • sign and share documents, providing proof of their existence, integrity, and origin;
  • safely store data and information;
  • provide documents with a timestamp;
  • track all changes made to recorded data, making it more difficult to manipulate the data itself;

We use blockchain technology with the aim of ensuring maximum transparency of data and information, benefiting legal certainty.
